Piaggio is launching the Aprilia SXR 160 in the Indian market this month (December 2020). And right after this news from the company, came another – the launch of Aprilia RS 660 around mid-2021.
The all-new RS 660 is a sports bike from the company, the details of which were recently unveiled by the Chairman & MD of Piaggio India – Diego Graffi in an online event. Diego Graffi confirmed that the new RS 660 will be made available with a CBU unit and that Piaggio will not consider the CKD route to import the unit.
The new RS 660 was unveiled recently in its final production. The bike started getting pre-bookings globally since its commencement in October.
Engine & Performance of Aprilia RS 660
The new RS 660 is going to be equipped with a 660 CC parallel-twin engine which is built by getting inspired from the engine of Aprilia RSV4. This powerful unit can produce a maximum power of around 100hp.
The RS 660 might churn out more power than the Honda CBR 650 R, however, its output power still lags behind most of the middleweight bikes such as KTM 790 Duke & BMW F900R.
Having said that, the RS 660 will indirectly have rivals like Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and the Triumph Daytona 765.

Electronics & Rider Aids Features of Aprilia RS 660
The bike will be equipped with 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS system, five driving modes, wheelie control system, bi-directional quick-shifter, traction control, cruise control, and many other riding features. This makes Aprilia RS 660 quite appealing to the customers.
Apart from the riding aids features, the RS 660 is equipped with electronics features such as a TFT screen of medium size that displays relevant and most needed information in a clear and simple way. This helps the rider to easily read the information while riding the bike without getting much distracted.
Price of Aprilia RS 660
With all the technological advancements loaded on the bike along with the powerful engine, it will be quite interesting to see what the company decides on the price tag. However, according to an estimation, the bike’s price might range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
