Toyota has teased its upcoming premium hatchback, which has been christened as the Glanza, ahead of its launch that is expected to take place soon. The Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno that will be sold by Toyota India under Toyota-Suzuki Joint Venture (JV).
The teaser video shared on Youtube reveals the rear-side profile of the car, which retains the same design as the Maruti Baleno, with the only difference being the Toyota badge on the alloy wheels. The centre cap on the dual tone alloys will feature the Toyota logo. The interiors too are likely to be left largely unaltered. Toyota though could offer a better warranty package as compared to what Maruti Suzuki currently offers with the Baleno.
Details regarding the Toyota Glanza are scarce at the moment although the model is expected to be offered with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as seen on the Maruti Baleno. This engine is capable of producing 83 hp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual unit and a CVT automatic gearbox. Although Toyota India has not revealed any details regarding the launch of the upcoming Glanza, reports suggest that the model could be launched in the country as early as June 2019.
