Mahindra is ready to start the sale of its first batch of the upcoming electric SUV, eKUV 100 in the Indian market in a few months from now. Mahindra and Mahindra’s MD and CEO, Pawan Goenka confirmed at the launch of Treo Zor (electric three-wheeler)that the company is working on to begin delivering eKUV100 to its dealers. The good news is that the new electric SUV will become available to purchase in retail within the next three months.
Mahindra and Mahindra’s future vision of electric mobility took another step forward with the launch of the all-new eKUV100 earlier this year at the Auto Expo.
About Mahindra eKUV100
The eKUV100 is Mahindra and Mahindra’s first in-house all-electric car, and that too SUV.
Motor & Performance
The new electric KUV 100 is built on the company’s new lightweight EV platform, MESMA 48. Talking about its motor, it is powered by a single electric motor that produces a maximum power of 54.35 PS and a peak torque of 120 Nm.
The eKUV100’s motor receives the power from a 15.9 kWh battery. The electric SUV offers a 147km range with a single charge, claimed by Mahindra and Mahindra.
The eKUV100 features a liquid-cooled battery pack, which supports fast charging until 80% in just 55 minutes, similar to most of the new mobiles!
The eKUV100 is not very different, in terms of design, from its previous ICE model. However, these are distinctive features that set the electric model apart:
- Exterior with blue highlights
- Blue highlighted seats, helping to instantly show that the SUV is an EV
Features of Mahindra eKUV100
The eKUV100 is a lot richer in features compared to its ICE variant, these are some features of the electric variant:
- Locking and unlocking the door remotely,
- Pre-cooling of cabin (Optional)
- Driving pattern monitor,
- Location tracking,
- Remote diagnostics,
- Infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen,

- Standard dual airbags
Is Mahindra eKUV100 A Lucrative Option?
Mahindra and Mahindra’s new eKUV100 is surely a lucrative option in the electric vehicles segment thanks to its competitive pricing. Especially the customers in Delhi will find this electric variant to be quite affordable because of the new electric vehicle policy launched by the Delhi Government. The new electric vehicle policy offers a subsidy to customers who buy EVs, in a hoard to promote clean energy.
Electric Vehicle Policy
The new EV policy will offer an incentive of Rs 1.50 lakh on buying an EV. This will reduce the price of the new eKUV100 to less than Rs 7 lakh. However, this scheme is limited to only the first thousand EV cars bought after the policy was launched. But don’t worry, even if you miss out on the subsidy opportunity, you can take advantage of the waived-off road tax and registration fees for EVs, as a part of the EV policy.
