India’s First Ethanol-Powered Bike Launched At Rs 1.20 Lakh

TVS Motor has launched India’s first ethanol-powered motorcycle, Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 at a price tag of Rs. 1,20,000 ex-showroom in the presence of the Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India – Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Chairman of TVS Motor Company – Venu Srinivasan and his son Sudarshan Venu and CEO of Niti Aayog – Amitabh Kant. The company announced that the sales of the new Apache green variant will begin in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

Apache Rtr 200 Fi E100

Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 comes with Twin-Spray-Twin-Port EFI technology to ensure the better drivability, faster throttle response and reduction in emission levels. The top speed of the motorcycle is 129 km/h. The green variant of Apache RTR 200 4V produces a peak power of 15.46 kW @ 8,500 RPM with a torque of 18.1 NM @ 7,000 RPM.

Ethanol is a type of fuel, which can be used in vehicles to reduce pollution. It contains 35% oxygen and reduces nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide emissions from combustion. Ethanol can be produced on a domestic level and because of its biodegradable and non-toxic feature, it is easy to handle, store and transport.

TVS Motor Company Chairman Venu Srinivasan said, “Today, the two-wheeler industry is looking at green and sustainable future mobility solutions spanning across electric, hybrid and alternative fuels. The company believes that ethanol-based products are an important option for our customers,”. He also said that “TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 is a breakthrough in the two-wheeler space that will set the trend for a green future in India”.
