Hyundai Creta Crosses 2 Lakh Cumulative Exports Mark

Hyundai Motor recently released the export figures of its very popular SUV – Creta. The company has claimed that the cumulative exports have crossed over two lakh units, another milestone completed. Hyundai is currently manufacturing Creta in its Chennai-based plant & exporting it to approximately 88 different countries around the world.

What Does Upper Management Think About It?

Commenting on this achievement by the company, the MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd said that since Creta’s launch in 2015, it established its supremacy over other brands and became a favourite SUV among customers globally. He also said that crossing the 2,00,000 sales mark shows Hyundai’s focus & commitment towards ‘Make in India’ project. He even mentioned the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu which produces global quality products for both domestic and international markets.

Hyundai’s Growth in 2019

In CY 2019, Hyundai Motor India exported 1,81,200 units along with 792 custom variants specific to the demands & preference of the respective countries(source: statement released by the company).

According to the same report, Hyundai remained a major contributor to the Indian automobile industry as well as to the ‘Make In India‘ initiative which was started by the government. And the same report also mentions that the company’s export share has been increasing for the last three years. No wonder it succeeded in crossing the 2 lakhs mark.

Hyundai’s Exports Over The Past Years

Hyundai has also claimed that it even crossed the three million export of vehicles milestone earlier this year (2020). The company surpassed this milestone while exporting to 88 different countries. The following is a timeline of cumulative exports of Hyundai to different countries:

  • March 2008 – 5 Lakh Units
  • Feb 2010 – 10 Lakh Units
  • March 2014 – 20 Lakh Units

Which Models Is Hyundai Exporting & Where?

Hyundai Motor India is reported to be exporting 10 models to different countries currently. The models are:

  • Atos (Santro in India),
  • Grand i10,
  • Xcent,
  • Grand i10 (NIOS) & Grand i10 (Aura),
  • Elite i20 & i20 Active,
  • Accent (VERNA),
  • Venue, and
  • The all-new Creta.

The company is currently exporting these 10 models from India to the following places:

  • South America (32 Countries),
  • North America (Mexico),
  • Africa (28 Countries),
  • Asia Pacific (26 Countries), and
  • Europe (1 Country)
