Honda Shine Motorcycle Crosses 90 Lakh Sales Milestone In India

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India released a statement which informed that the company has hit the 90 lakh sales milestone of its Shine 125 cc bike, since its launch in 2006. The company also claimed that the Shine has a commanding share in the Indian market in its segment. Honda also mentioned its strong performance in 2020 despite the catastrophic challenges faced by the automotive industry.

Sales of Honda Shine

The company has stated that the Honda Shine has a strong presence in the Indian market in the past few decades. It became an instant hit and also the best-selling bike in the 125cc segment. It got its first 10 lakh customers in just 54 months of its launch.

  • By the year 2013, one in three 125cc motorcycles sold in India was Honda Shine – this helped the company to achieve the 30 lakh sales milestone by 2014.
  • Experts believe that the regular updates that Shine received over the years have been one of the major reasons for its strong performance in sales.
  • One in two 125cc-motorcycle sold in India was Honda Shine by 2018.

The latest Shine is powered by a BS 6 compliant, 125cc PGM-FI HET engine with Enhanced Smart Power technology. This is also a contributing factor in Honda Shine’s much-seen success in India.

Atsushi Ogata, The Managing Director, President & CEO of HMSI commented that Shine has taken over the 125cc-segment of the Indian market since its inception. He also said that the company is committed to serving its customer base with the best riding experience.

Currently, the latest Honda Shine carries a starting price tag of Rs 69,415 (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the Indian market. It has a strong grip over the 125cc segment and is a direct rival of Bajaj Discover 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125, Hero Glamour i3s, etc.
