Harley-Davidson was all set to stop manufacturing their bikes in the Indian market a couple of weeks ago. However, there were some rumours & theories for a while now that even after halting its manufacturing, Harley Davidson will join hands with one of India’s leading bike makers. And to be precise, Hero MotorCorp.
Now, the same theory has been confirmed by an official statement from the American bike manufacturer.
Statement From Harley Davidson
According to the statement, Harley Davidson has officially tied up with Hero MotorCorp, the world’s biggest two-wheeler producer, for India operations. It also states that as per a distribution agreement between the two companies, Hero MotorCorp will sell & offer to service of Harley Davidson bikes.
Along with that, the former will also sell & service bike parts & accessories and merchandise apparel and riding gear. The sales & service will be done through a chain of Harley Davidson’s exclusive brand dealerships along with the existing retail network of Hero MotoCorp in India.
As a part of a licensing agreement, Hero MotorCorp will develop and sell a range of premium motorbikes under the brand name of Harley Davidson.

The above-mentioned actions from the American bike maker, Harley-Davidson, are aligned with its new business strategy called The Rewire and also with the company’s announcement in September which mentioned a change of course in its business model for the Indian market.
This deal is believed to be not just beneficial for Harley Davidson, but also for Hero MotorCorp in India. Because this deal combines the Harley-Davidson brand with Hero MotorCorp’s strong distribution network and customer service in India.

Hero MotorCorp’s Side of Story
According to the latest announcement, similar to some Indian two-wheelers manufacturers like TVS & Bajaj, Hero MotorCorp has joined the league. The former two companies already cracked deals with foreign motorbike brands and formed partnerships with them.
Hero MotorCorp will now be developing and selling Harley-Davidson branded bikes. Thanks to the Indian bike manufacturer, these Harley-Davidson bikes can be retailed at highly competitive prices. It is expected that Hero MotorCorp will use the full potential of its already large network to boost the presence & sales of Harley Davidson across the whole Indian market.
