Jeep India has teased the hardcore variant of the Compass, known as the Compass Trailhawk, ahead of its launch in the country later this year. Although the company has not revealed an exact timeline, it is believed that the model will be launched in India by July 2019.
The teaser image shared by Jeep reveals the bonnet of the Compass, which features a blackout portion, hinting that the model is indeed the Compass Trailhawk variant. To differentiate it from the standard Compass variants, the model features redesigned front and rear bumpers, tow hooks painted in red, a black decal on the bonnet and a ‘Trail-Rated’ badging at the rear. The ground clearance too is 20mm higher, while the interiors receive all weather floor mats.
Powering the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be a BS-VI emission compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine. Currently, this engine is tuned to produce 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Another highlight will be the 9-speed automatic transmission that will mark the debut of the first diesel-automatic combo in the Compass lineup.
A few other highlights of the Jeep Compass include underside skid plates, contrast coloured roof, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof. The new Jeep Compass Trailhawk is expected to arrive with a price tag in the range of INR 27-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
