Audi e-tron Bags Five Stars In EURO NCAP

Five Stars For Audi e-tron

When it comes to safety, Audi has done a good job with its e-Tron SUV. The EURO NCAP has awarded the all-electric SUV with a 5-star score. The tested model was a left-hand drive Audi e-Tron 55 Quattro. A five-door SUV launch in 2019, classified as a large off-roader.

As per the assessment report, the dummy readings inferred good knee and femur protection for driver and passengers of all shapes and sizes in the frontal offset test. The cabin did well and remained stable through the crash. The performance was similar in the full-width rigid barrier and side barrier test. While these numbers were impressive, the e-Tron lost some marks when it came to the side pole test. Dummy readings of rib compression indicated weak protection for the chest, however with good protection of other critical body areas.

Good protection demonstrated against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision.  A geometric assessment of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection.

The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed well in tests of its functionality at low speeds at which many whiplash injuries occur, with collisions avoided or mitigated in all scenarios.

For child occupant safety, the Audi e-Tron provided adequate protection to 6 and 10-year-old dummies in the frontal-offset and side barrier test. The safety systems of the e-tron helped the SUV to score well on all accords. The AEB system performed well in tests of its performance at highway speeds. Features like driver set speed limiter, additional speed limit information function (optional), lane support system and seatbelt reminder, etc., help keep the occupants of the SUV safe.
